Companies that do topography mapping and layout work use a vacuum frame.  A sheet of "virgin" film is placed in the holder.  The cover is closed to draw a vacuum which pulls the film tight.  Once the required vacuum is reached, a light is shown through the film to create a positive image of your picture.  A negative slide is created from the positive image which will allow you to produce as many copies as required.
