The U.S. Clean Air Act of 1990 (and other subsequent International Agreements) restricts the production and use of ozone-depleting refrigerants. The law requires refrigerants be recovered and recycled when removed from air conditioners and refrigeration systems during service and repair.

Refrigerant gases are extracted from fridge systems under vacuum, to ensure complete removal. The gasses are collected and further compressed for re-use or safe disposal.
